Paris-Bukarest reuneşte cântecele ale cântăreţei românce Maria Tănase şi compoziţii originale care aduc în prim plan povestiri epice sau destine tragice. În Bucureştiul cosmopolit al anilor 30-40, numit „Parisul din Est”, Maria Tănase o „Edith Piaf” a românilor cântă în română şi franceză repertoriul ţigănesc de balade, născute din legendele populare. Implicată în viaţa politică şi în destinul ţării sale, ea ocupă un loc aparte în inima oricărui român.
Într-un decor de cabaret minimalist, cântecele (adesea doine şi romanţe româneşti) traduse în franceză, evocă beţia, căsătoriile aranjate, viaţa ţiganilor sau chiar privirea răutăcioasă aruncată unei rivale. În repertoriu se strecoară compoziţii originale semnate de cântăreaţă şi de regizorul său Maurice Durozier (de la Teatrul Soleil) după modelul acestui Paris-Bukarest care trezeşte, într-un mod amuzant, fascinaţia pe care o exercită înainte de război lumea balcanică.

Paris-Bukarest mixes songs drawn from the repertory of the Romanian singer Maria Tanase, translated and adapted, and original compositions inspired of the traditional music and songs of gangsters of honor.
In cosmopolitan Bucharest of years 30-40 that one named “Paris of the East”, Maria Tanase, the Edith Piaf Romanian, sang in Romanian and French the repertory Tzigane of the ballades inspired of old legends and the Romanian popular tradition. Maria Tanase implied herself in the political life and the destiny of her country. She holds a place with share in the heart of each Romanian.
The songs (often of the doina, Romanian blues), translated into French, evoke intoxication, the marriages forced, the life gipsy or the evil eye thrown on a rival. Slip into the repertory of the original compositions signed by the singer and her director Maurice Durozier (from Theatre Soleil), with the image of this Paris-Bukarest which awakes with drollery fascination that pre-war period the world of Balkans exerted.
